Understanding the hidden constraints behind operational performance
For more than 30 years, I have worked in manufacturing, machine building, steel construction and industrial operations across Europe and Asia.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with operators, technicians, engineers, planners, supervisors and directors. This experience has taught me one important lesson:
Operational problems are rarely caused by one single failure. They are usually the result of a disruption in the connection between people, processes, information and decisions.
The visible problem is often only the final result.
Production delays, recurring failures, quality issues, missed deliveries or increasing pressure on teams are symptoms. The real constraint often started much earlier, somewhere within the operational flow of the organisation.
Understanding where that flow becomes disrupted is where sustainable improvement begins.
When the flow of information, decisions or materials is disrupted, the consequences spread throughout the organisation. Departments work harder, pressure increases and symptoms are treated, while the underlying cause often remains hidden.
That understanding became the foundation of my approach and ultimately led to the development of DTS FLOW™.
Looking beyond the obvious
Throughout my career, I have always been driven by one question:
Why do some organisations continuously improve, while others remain trapped in the same recurring problems?
The answer is rarely found by looking only at reports, dashboards or individual KPIs.
Numbers show what is happening.
But observation reveals why it is happening.
That is why my approach always starts with understanding reality as it exists on the workplace:
How do people collaborate?→How does information move through the organisation?→How are decisions made?→Where does work wait, stop or lose effectiven→Which constraints limit the entire system?
By connecting these observations, the real bottleneck becomes visible.
From experience to DTS FLOW™
The foundation of DTS FLOW™ was built through decades of practical experience in industrial environments.
Working with production teams, maintenance organisations and leadership teams showed me that sustainable improvement requires more than solving individual problems.
It requires understanding the complete operational system.
DTS FLOW™ combines practical observation, technical knowledge, operational experience and structured analysis to identify hidden constraints and improve the way organisations operate.
The objective is not simply to fix today's issue.
The objective is to understand why the issue continues to occur and create improvements that remain effective in the long term.
A different perspective on flow
My way of thinking has also been influenced by many years of studying and teaching Tai Chi as a traditional martial art.
Although manufacturing and martial arts appear to be different worlds, the underlying principles are surprisingly similar:
awareness before action→ balance and structure→ timing and coordination→ efficient use of energy→ understanding the complete system.
In both disciplines, success comes from understanding the interaction between all elements rather than focusing on one isolated movement.
This perspective influences how I approach organisations today.
A company is also a system.
When the flow between people, processes and decisions is balanced, performance improves naturally.
Practical experience combined with system thinking
My strength lies in combining different perspectives:
- the reality of the shop floor
- the technical understanding of equipment and processes;
- the challenges faced by management;
- the human factors influencing performance
I believe improvement starts by listening, observing and understanding before acting.
No assumptions.
No standard solutions.
Every organisation has its own challenges, history and constraints.
The right solution begins with understanding the real situation.
My mission
Through DTS – Dreijer Technical Solutions, I support manufacturing and machine-building organisations with:
Interim Operations & Maintenance Management;
Reliability Engineering;
Root Cause Analysis;
Operational Improvement;
DTS FLOW™ assessments.
My mission is simple:
Make hidden constraints visible. Restore operational flow. Create sustainable business performance.
Because in my experience:
The visible problem is rarely the real bottleneck.
The real improvement begins when we understand what is happening beneath the surface
Let's start with a conversation
Every organisation has its own challenges, constraints and ambitions.
Whether you need temporary leadership support, operational improvement or an independent assessment of your production flow, DTS provides an experienced and practical perspective.
No standard solutions.
No unnecessary complexity.
Just an honest conversation about your operation and where improvement is possible.

Turning Bottlenecks into Business Performance
The objective is always the same:
Restore operational flow. Remove hidden constraints. Strengthen long-term business performance
Let's start with a conversation.
Every organisation has its own challenges, constraints and ambitions.
Whether you need interim leadership, operational improvement or an independent assessment of your production flow, I'd be happy to discuss how DTS can help.
No standard solutions. Just an honest conversation about your operation.
